Jason Benjamin

Jason has over 30 years of combined military and public safety experience and 25 years experience as a technical rescue instructor. He currently works as a Captain for a fire department in East Tennessee. An instructor for the NPS Basic Technical Rescue Training - East program, Jason serves as the technical rescue instructor for the team, teaching rope rescue, swiftwater rescue, and public safety rescue swimmer. Jason has responded to many of the natural and man-made disasters that have occurred in the Southeast over the past several years. Most recently, he responded as a rescue swimmer to Columbia, SC, during the “1000-year flood” in 2015 and commanded a battalion comprised of firefighters and resources from multiple departments all over the Southeast during the fire in Gatlinburg in 2016.
