Brian Borkowski

Brian Borkowski brings extensive military aviation and operational experience to BUSAR. A former U.S. Army OH-58 Kiowa Warrior pilot, he flew armed reconnaissance missions in support of ground operations during deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, operating in complex and high-risk environments where sound judgment and disciplined decision-making were essential.

He currently serves as a UH-60 Black Hawk pilot and instructor with the Tennessee Army National Guard, assigned to a MEDEVAC unit that supports emergency response and rescue operations throughout the region, including missions in and around Great Smoky Mountains National Park. His aviation background provides BUSAR with valuable expertise in helicopter operations, mission planning, and coordination between ground and air resources during backcountry incidents.

A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point with a degree in Geospatial Information Science, Borkowski combines aviation experience with a strong foundation in terrain analysis, land navigation, and operational planning. His field experience includes backcountry travel, off-trail movement, bushcraft, and wilderness operations in rugged terrain.

Known for his calm professionalism and steady leadership under pressure, Borkowski brings a disciplined operational mindset and extensive aviation experience that strengthen BUSAR's mission readiness and backcountry search and rescue capabilities.
