John Sharbel

John brings extensive emergency medical, rescue, and aviation experience to BUSAR. With more than 20 years working across EMS, fire service, search and rescue, and military aviation, Sharbel has built a reputation for calm leadership, operational reliability, and the ability to perform effectively in high-pressure environments.

Raised in East Tennessee, Sharbel developed a strong work ethic and commitment to service early in life. His operational background includes wilderness medicine, scene management, backcountry rescue operations, swiftwater rescue, and air medical evacuation. He currently serves as a flight paramedic and staff readiness NCO with the Tennessee Army National Guard, specializing in high-risk air medical and backcountry rescue missions.

Prior to his current role, Sharbel worked in numerous emergency response settings, including ambulance operations, fire service, emergency department care at a Level I trauma center, and backcountry medical operations in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. His diverse experience across both civilian and military emergency services provides valuable leadership and operational capability to BUSAR missions.

Known for his strong work ethic, resilience, and ability to maintain morale during difficult operations, Sharbel emphasizes physical preparedness, continual training, and teamwork. His experience in emergency medicine, rescue operations, and aviation support continues to strengthen BUSAR’s mission readiness and field response capabilities.
