John Danner

John serves as an EMT and search operator with BUSAR, combining emergency medical experience with the endurance and adaptability required for backcountry search and rescue. His calm demeanor and steady approach allow him to provide effective patient care while operating in challenging field environments.

Originally from the Chicago area, Danner was a collegiate cross-country and track athlete whose competitive running background continues to shape his approach to wilderness operations. He remains an active endurance athlete, participating in half marathons while pursuing hiking, paddling, fishing, and other outdoor activities that complement his backcountry skill set.

As a member of BUSAR, Danner contributes medical expertise, physical fitness, and operational flexibility to search and rescue missions. Teammates know him for remaining composed under pressure, adapting quickly to changing conditions, and maintaining a positive, mission-focused attitude in the field.

Outside of search and rescue, Danner works as an EMT with Lifeguard Ambulance in Knox County and plans to pursue medical school at the University of Tennessee. His commitment to serving others, combined with his passion for the outdoors, reflects his belief that wilderness experiences should be both rewarding and safely enjoyed.
