Bill Ivey

Bill Ivey brings extensive military, wildlife management, and backcountry operational experience to BUSAR. Raised in southern West Virginia, Ivey developed a strong connection to the outdoors early in life through hunting, fishing, and wilderness travel in rugged Appalachian terrain.

A former active duty Marine with continued service in the Marine Reserves, Ivey developed a disciplined leadership style grounded in accountability, resilience, and mission-focused teamwork. His operational background includes terrain-based land navigation, technical rescue systems, communications, command structure, and extended field operations in difficult environments.

In addition to his military experience, Ivey currently works as a Wildlife Ranger in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, where he specializes in wildlife operations and bear management throughout complex backcountry terrain. His extensive field experience and familiarity with the region provide valuable operational capability during search and rescue missions in remote and physically demanding environments.

Known for his calm demeanor under pressure and strong work ethic, Ivey is respected throughout the team for his reliability, physical endurance, and willingness to take on difficult assignments without hesitation. His leadership, operational discipline, and field experience continue to strengthen BUSAR’s backcountry rescue and mission support capabilities.
