Kelly brings extensive military, legal, and backcountry operational experience to BUSAR. Raised on a working cattle farm in Tennessee, Street developed a strong work ethic, practical problem-solving skills, and a leadership mindset grounded in responsibility and discipline from an early age.
A former U.S. Army scout, paratrooper, and military intelligence officer, Street served more than 10 years on active duty, gaining extensive experience in leadership, communications, navigation, and operational planning in demanding environments. His background includes land navigation, search tactics, physical endurance, communications, and backcountry operations in rugged terrain throughout the Appalachian region and the American Southwest.
In addition to his operational role within BUSAR, Street practices corporate law as a shareholder with Egerton, McAfee, Armistead & Davis, P.C., where he maintains a strong interest in legal issues affecting search and rescue personnel, first responders, and military veterans. His combination of operational and legal experience provides valuable perspective and leadership support to the organization.
Known for his calm demeanor, leadership under pressure, and analytical approach to problem-solving, Street emphasizes accountability, preparation, and leading from the front. His operational discipline, communication skills, and commitment to service continue to strengthen BUSAR’s backcountry rescue and mission support capabilities.
